1. Search binary file for a string Binmay can search a binary file for a string specified as a hexadecimal string. To replace strings, specify the string to replace in brackets following the string to search for. Example: search for "SearchMe" and replace with "ReplaceMe" in file "dump.bin": binmay -s ("SearchMe") -r ("ReplaceMe") -f dump.bin 2. Bitwise mask search string Binmay allows you to mask the string you search for with bitwise masks (ones and zeroes). The masks are specified as hex strings between two opening and two closing parens. You must enter exactly eight mask characters. If there are fewer than eight mask characters (from the opening to closing parens), the search string will be masked with all zeroes. If there are more than eight mask characters (not counting the opening or closing parens), you will be prompted to enter additional mask characters. Binmay returns any masked strings to the user on its STDOUT stream. If there are fewer masked strings than mask characters, the last eight mask characters will be displayed. Example: SearchMe becomes SearchMe in all instances of the search string, and ReplaceMe becomes ReplaceMe in all instances of the replacement string. Binmay accepts the following bitwise mask characters: D - 0000000000000001 H - 0000000000000100 L - 0000000000100000 HLL - 0000000001100000 LL - 0000000010000100 S - 0000000001000011 SS - 0000000000111100 ss - 0000000000001110 iii - 0000000000010000 iii - 0000000000000100 iii - 0000000000000011 iii - 0000000000001000 iii - 0000000000000010 0 - 0000000000000001 0S - 0000000000000001 0ss - 0000000000000001 0SS - 000000000000000S Example: SearchMe becomes "SearchMe" in all instances of the search string, and ReplaceMe becomes "ReplaceMe" in all instances of the replacement string. Mask characters specified in parentheses are optional. The following bitwise mask characters are deprecated: O - 00000001 N - 00000100 X - 00010000 Example: ReplaceMe becomes "ReplaceMe" in all instances of the replacement string.
